Catering to more than 110 000 pedestrians and customers per day, Wynyard Station is one of the busiest in Sydney’s rail network.

As daily operations needed to continue, the team had to manage the upgrade works without greatly affecting customers, staff and nearby businesses.

With stakeholders ranging from tech-savvy commuters and travellers with special needs, to homeless people sleeping in the area, the project called for a bespoke communication and engagement approach, which Aurecon delivered through the Novo Rail alliance.

Using both traditional and digital communications, the team reached out to the many groups affected, ensuring minimal disruptions and effectively communicating the project’s plans and benefits.
